Fnatic, if you do not already know, is a worldwide e-sports organization that works to support and strengthen gamers.
Overall, Fnatic focuses on entertainment and ensuring that e-sport athletes have the opportunities needed to be successful. It also owns a digital marketing agency that connects brands with e-sport audiences between the ages of 18 and 35 - one of the more popular age groups for gaming.
The e-sport entertainment management organization has come a long way since its establishment in 2004. Nowadays, it is one of the most sought after e-sport organizations in the world, with an audience within the millions.
Headquartered in London, its story to success is a long one. Facing challenges in both competitions and in finding solid teams that bring home victories.
How and When It Started
The story started on July 23, 2004 when Sam Matthews and Anne Matthews founded the organization originally for Counter-Strike. Since then, it has grown to support teams across more than 30 different e-sports games.
Fnatic won the e-sports EWard Team of the Year for 2006 and 2009, laying solid groundwork for future success. Then, between 2008 and 2009, the organization partnered with MSI and SteelSeries, becoming known as FnaticMSI.
Over the years, Fnatic would accrue more sponsors, such as EIZO in 2011 to promote gaming monitors and RaidColl in 2012 to expand e-sports teams into South Korea.
Recipe for Success
Fnatic became wildly successful after singing on three talented players from Sweden. It was during their run with the organization that Fnatic earned their first Eward for Team of the Year in 2006.
After the departure of the three Swedes, though, the organization transitioned to CS: GO as the game of focus. It was during this era that Fnatic received its second Eward in 2009.
By 2012, Fnatic’s most notable team was for Counter-Strike 1.6, which was the game of choice for most of the team members. However, struggles ensued, causing many of the members to leave and pursue different teams.
Recovering from the loss of some players, the team signed on a Swedish squad for the next season. Though it took some adjustments, like having to release and resign some members, the team was complete and took home a silver medal in MSI Beat IT 2013.
As the organization grew, so did the number of gamers and the number of competitions. In 2015, Fnatic had the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team in the world, and this is only a tiny portion of the organization’s titles.
Fnatic’s Awards and Titles
After almost a decade and a half of operating, Fnatic has accumulated more than 370 medals, 209 championship wins, and over $15 million in prize money. It also has the two notable titles of Team of the Year in 2006 and 2009.
Fnatic, the esports entertainment organization headquartered in London, continues to lead the industry in views, audience size, and team success across games. With their marketing agency, the organization continues to launch merchandise and entertainment to an audience of more than 15 million people all over the world.
