Project F: What We Know So Far about Riot Games' Newest Venture

Riot Games, the developer behind the immensely popular MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game, League of Legends, is notorious for its secretive nature when it comes to upcoming projects. One such mystery that has been intriguing the gaming community for some time now is Project F. While much of the project is still under wraps, here's what we know so far.

The Concept of Project F

Project F was first announced during the 10-year anniversary edition of Riot Pls, amidst the unveiling of multiple other games from Riot Games, such as Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics Mobile, and League of Legends: Wild Rift. At the time, Project F was only briefly shown and Riot Games notably avoided any prolonged discussion about it in their announcement video.

Currently, the speculation is that Project F is an action RPG (Role Playing Game) with a multiplayer dungeon crawler experience, akin to games like Diablo and Genshin Impact. This would be a new genre for Riot Games to explore, broadening the League of Legends universe even further. Riot has described the game as "a project that explores the possibilities of traversing the world of Runeterra with your friends".

Development and Release Date

As for the development status, the project has been in the works for nearly four years. Despite this, there is still no official release date, and the gaming community hasn't received any significant official updates on the game. That said, we know that the game was still being worked on as of 2022, confirming that Riot Games continues to invest resources into the project.

Project F Gameplay

While it's unclear exactly how the gameplay in Project F will pan out, there's been speculation based on small hints and the gaming community's expectations. The game is expected to feature top-tier graphics while exploring the various regions of Runeterra. A short clip released by Riot Games revealed characters Blitzcrank and Ezreal fighting mobs, hinting that players might have the chance to choose characters from the League universe and plunge into gameplay with them.

Each champion or character will likely come with unique abilities and special effects. It's also known that the game will feature different classes, potentially divided similarly to the MOBA version, with Tanks, Mages, Fighters, Slayers, and Controllers. Greg Street, former EP of the MMO project at Riot Games, has also mentioned that there will be raids, a feature common in games of the same genre.

Characters and Regions in Project F

Champions seen in the teaser, such as Blitzcrank and Ezreal, are expected to appear in the game. In addition, it's likely that Riot will include some of the most popular League champions like Lux, Akali, Yasuo, and many more. However, there's still no confirmation on how many and which characters will be included in the game.

Considering that the League universe is based on Runeterra, players can expect to explore various regions in Project F. These regions include Bandle City, Bilgewater, Demacia, Ionia, Ixtal, Noxus, Piltover, Shadow Isles, Shurima, Targon, The Freljord, and Zaun. The Void, however, might be missing as it's technically an inaccessible place in the League universe, but who knows, it might be implemented as a special map.

In conclusion, Project F is shaping up to be an exciting addition to Riot Games' roster, promising a new way to experience the League of Legends universe. As we eagerly anticipate more updates on this project, one thing is certain: Riot Games continues to innovate and push boundaries in the gaming industry.
